Pentecost (5/31) celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. The symbols of Pentecost include a dove representing the Holy Spirit as well as flames and wind. These doily doves are a beautiful and easy Pentecost craft and can be used as table name tags, ornaments, or decorations for a beautiful center piece.
Materials:
White Doilies (any size works...)
Scissors
School Glue
Sewing Needle (OPTIONAL)
White Sewing Thread (OPTIONAL)
Directions:
Fold the doily in half.
Using scissors, create a 'tail' at one end of the folded daily (see third image above).
Using scissors, create a 'head' at the other end of the doily. Remove the remaining lace, but do not dispose of it.
Use the leftover lace to create two 'wings'. Attach the 'wings' using a glue stick.
IF you want to turn your doily doves into ornaments, use a needle to thread a piece of sewing thread through the top of the dove. Tape the excess thread to the inside of the bird.
